Eliezer is still a child when he is thrown into the ghetto's and eventually forced into the concentration camp. He has never seen the evil possible in the world and can't understand why this is happening. The brutal acts of the Nazi's are horrific to him. He is living in the worst nightmare possible. Not only do the Kapo's and other officer's treat them like nothing, they turn against one another! Why would they do this? At thirteen years old, Eliezer will never see the world through a child's eyes again.
